Artisanal fishing represents a cultural and economic practice passed down from generation to generation, where family education plays a fundamental role in the development of adolescents involved in this activity. Understanding how the values and knowledge transmitted within the family environment impact adolescents' professional development in the fishing industry is crucial. The study addressed the influence of family life on the fishing activity of adolescents in Cawango, in the municipality of Benguela, Angola. The objective of this article was to analyze the influence of family education on adolescents' participation and performance in artisanal fishing. The study was conducted using a mixed approach, with a descriptive-explanatory scope. Methods were employed: theoretical methods (historical-logical, analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction), and empirical methods (observation of the context, surveys and interviews). The results revealed that those responsible for education directly influence their adolescent children, as a result of their families' economic structure. The conclusions emphasize that this family influence is imperative and not a result of the adolescents' own decisions.
