This study analyzes the potential of Problem-Based Learning as a teaching strategy for strengthening social-emotional skills in primary education students. To achieve this, a systematic literature review was conducted using national and international specialized databases. The analysis synthesizes evidence from programs and interventions designed to promote social-emotional competencies through problem-solving methodologies, which have demonstrated positive effects in reducing disruptive behaviors, strengthening social skills, improving school climate, and increasing prosocial behaviors among school-aged children. In addition, the study examines Mexican educational policies related to social-emotional education and their integration with Problem-Based Learning at the primary education level. The findings reveal a gap between the formal recognition of social-emotional education within educational policies and the effective incorporation of this methodology into classroom practice. It is concluded that Problem-Based Learning represents a highly promising strategy for fostering social-emotional development; however, its successful implementation requires strengthening teacher preparation, adapting instructional approaches to the characteristics of the educational context, and expanding empirical research at the national level.
