Tourism plays a key role in transforming local communities into sustainable and prosperous environments. The management model of the Mezcal Tourist Route and the methodology was built through the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. Semi-structured interviews and surveys were applied to different actors to collect perceptions about the aspects to be taken into account in the modeling and design of the methodology. The model, along with its methodology, serves as a tool for implementing tourism development at the local level. Its multidimensional basis allows it to promote tourism in a responsible way, respecting and preserving the natural and cultural environment while having a positive impact on the management of Sustainable Local Tourism. The model highlights the integration of local actors and the focus on sustainability and community development as key factors for success and acceptance. This study contributes significantly to the field of sustainable tourism route management, demonstrating the possibility of developing attractive and profitable tourist destinations without compromising the natural and cultural environment. In addition, future research should focus on long-term monitoring of the model's impact on local development and community perception, as well as exploring its replicability in similar regions. Additionally, it would be relevant to investigate more about the visitor experience and the influence of technology on tourism management, as well as to evaluate the long-term economic sustainability of the agave cluster.
